As part of STARTEAM GLOBAL’s Supply Chain Sustainability Training Series, our Sustainability team hosted the second workshop at Shengyi Technology’s factory in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, northern China — one of our key laminate suppliers. These workshops aim to improve transparency, promote shared responsibility, and encourage collective action across our supply chain.
Workshop Highlights
The training, led by our Sustainability Manager Arianna Ji, covered key topics including:
- Introduction to sustainability
- Climate change risks and opportunities
- GHG emissions
- CSR/ESG audit practices (including Supplier Quality Assurance and onsite best practices)
The open and collaborative environment encouraged mutual learning and knowledge sharing, deepening supplier engagement around ESG topics.
Driving Sustainable Innovation
Shengyi highlighted impressive advancements in sustainable R&D, including:
- Recyclable FR4 materials for PCBs
- Low-carbon FR4 developed using bio-based resins from renewable sources like trees and corn
They also showcased a major investment in energy efficiency: a large-scale waste heat collection system, implemented as part of their long-term carbon reduction strategy.
Sustainability in Daily Life
At Shengyi, sustainability goes beyond materials development—it’s now part of their workplace culture. Their newly renovated canteen encourages mindful dining through flexible portioning, data-driven meal prep, and regular employee feedback. These efforts have led to increased engagement and satisfaction, with most employees now choosing to dine on-site—a small but meaningful example of how sustainability can enhance both operations and well-being.
Partnering for a Sustainable Future
We’re proud to collaborate with suppliers like Shengyi Technology, who are committed to turning sustainability into action. A special thanks to the Shengyi team for their warm welcome and openness and to Arianna Ji for driving this impactful programme forward.
This is just one step on our shared journey toward a more sustainable, transparent, and resilient supply chain. Stay tuned for more stories from our Supply Chain Sustainability Training Series!
